LiFePO4 cells are large but strong and easy to handle. You can weld or solder them together to make your own battery pack. 4 cells connected in series will make a 12 Volt 6 Ah battery pack that can be used with regular lead acid chargers.
Some people use these packs without any BMS. As long as you check the voltage regularly, this setup is simple, reliable, and can last a long time as long as you don't over discharge the battery. A 4S LFP pack will have a full charge voltage of 14.6 volts, it should be floated at 13.3 volts, and will cut off around 11 volts.
LFP cells maintain a much more constant voltage along the discharge cycle, so the volts only drop a little as the cell depletes. This is great as it provides power stability without need of regulators.
LFP is much safer than Li-Ion and last 3000 recharge cycles instead of the 300 for Li-Ion.
